A Year of Education for 42 Children

I’m thrilled to share some incredible news with you—thanks to your generosity, we raised over €5000, providing a full year of education for more than 40 children in need! Big thank you especially to Mindy Paul, who has been a major supporter of this initiative. 🙏

The Reality for Many in India’s Urban Slums

In India, a staggering 35.2% of people living in urban areas reside in slums. These areas are often overpopulated, with inadequate access to water, sanitation, and security. Tragically, the children of these communities frequently miss out on basic education, as they are forced to start working at a young age to support their families.

This is where Lakshyam NGO steps in, empowering women and children through education and employment. Their tailored development models address the unique needs of each community they serve.

The Contrast with Ireland

In Ireland, we are fortunate to have a strong education system, with every child aged 6 and older attending school. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for many children around the world, particularly in India’s slums, where education is often a luxury rather than a right.

A Personal Journey: My First Visit to Lakshyam

Last summer, I visited a Lakshyam school in the slums of Delhi for the first time, and I was deeply moved by the incredible work being done there. The children’s resilience and determination to learn despite their challenging circumstances left a lasting impression on me.

Their stories of overcoming adversity just for the chance to sit in a classroom touched my heart, and I knew I had to do something to help. With a desire to make a difference, I decided to use my platform to raise awareness and launch a small fundraiser, hoping to support at least a few children.

Thanks to your kind shares and generous donations, I’m overjoyed to announce that together we are making a significant impact. More than 40 children now have access to education, opening doors to opportunities that can transform their lives.

Having spent time with the inspiring founder of Lakshyam, Raashi Anand, as well as the dedicated teachers and bright students, I am confident that this support will make a meaningful difference in the work they are doing.

The Road Ahead

The funds we raise go directly to Lakshyam, helping more children access education—many for the very first time. Every child deserves an environment that nurtures their potential, and Lakshyam is a shining example of what can be achieved with a committed team and tangible systems for change.
